I cannot tell you how excited I am to write this article. Christmas is my FAVORITE time of the year! I love cooking, decorating, spending time with family, and showing my loved ones how much I care for them. My love language is gift giving so Christmas time just feeds my soul and Christmas decor gets me so excited.
Ever since I had my place (well if I am honest I was doing this before I had my place) I would fully decorate the house. Inside and out. I know decorating for Christmas can be hard and if you have a small place it can be difficult. But don’t you worry as we have all your Christmas decor ideas in one place.
1. Christmas Decor Color Theme
For me, I have to have a color theme or pallet with my Christmas decor. I’m my house I have 2 color themes going on, one for the main living space and one for my main bedroom. I think it is important to know what main color you are going to use as this will help save you time when you go shopping for your decorations.
Last year the color pallet in my living room was blush pink and rose gold and in the bedroom, I used the more traditional colors of red and green. Now I am not saying don’t use other colors but having 1 or 2 colors as the main stand-out will give your Christmas decor look amazing.
2. Christmas Banners
When trying to decorate a small space remember that you have walls! Use them! You can hang pictures or even Christmas banners from them. There are so many cute banners that you can purchase online or you could make your own. Banners also come in so many colors that you are bound to find that color that will fit your Christmas decor theme.
3. Hints of Christmas
There are so many products that you can buy with hints of Christmas. You could buy some couch cushions that have snowflakes, or Christmas trees on them. Plaid blankets are also a super cute decor addition to your lounge room to give it a Christmas feel. Don’t forget there are so many cute Christmas ornaments that you can place around your apartment like on your kitchen countertops, bathroom vanity, or even your home office desk.
4. Christmas Wreath
Did you know that you can do more with a wreath? Well, you can! The first way is the traditional way of hanging it on your front door to let everyone know that Christmas is here and you approve. The second way is to use it on a table or bench and place a beautiful candle in the middle. It is such a simple idea for a Christmas table decoration.
5. Christmas Trees
You have to have a Christmas tree in your apartment for Christmas, it’s a must! Thankfully Christmas trees come in so many shapes and sizes that you are sure to find one that will fit your space. If not you can always buy a tree that is small enough to place on your kitchen table or bench or bedside table! One thing I like about little trees is that you don’t need to over decorate them. You can place a few little things on it and use other Christmas decor items to show your Christmas spirit.
6. Christmas Printables
Christmas printables are a nice cheap way to decorate your apartment. If you have a printer you can print out some cute little Christmas prints and place them around your apartment. If you want to spend a bit more money you can buy some frames that would suit your prints.
7. Christmas Window Decals
Window stickers are one of the best Christmas decor ideas as they take up zero floor space! I also like the fact that they can be enjoyed by neighbors how may love Christmas as much as you do.
8. Christmas Decor Couch Cushions
Cushions are an awesome way to give your lounge room the Christmas flavor. You could buy ready-made Christmas cushions or if you already have cushion inserts you can buy that cushion cover which will save you money. If you are really up for a challenge or budget you could buy Christmas material in your color theme and make the covers yourself!
9. Fairy Lights
Honestly, if I could I would have fairy light hang from my ceiling all year round. Fairy lights can be placed in so many rooms in your apartment to give it that Christmas feel. Fairy lights are so cheap these days which makes them an affordable Christmas decor item to have. For myself, I have a mix of colored and white fairy lights.
10. Christmas Decor Shower Curtains
Last but not least in our Christmas decor list for small apartments is a Christmas shower curtain. Let’s bring Christmas to the bathroom! Christmas shower curtains are another cheap way to decorate your apartment for Christmas. If you have a glass shower door you could always grab some Christmas-themed towels or go really simple and grab some green and red towels.
